Mini Pottery - Tips & Tricks
Keep clay soft NOT soggy
Air-dry clay can dry out fast! If it starts to crack or feel stiff, dip your fingers in water and smooth it gently. Too much water makes it floppy, so aim for soft-and-stretchy, not sticky.
Center Before You Spin
Press your clay firmly in the very middle of the wheel before turning it on. If it’s off-center, your piece will wobble. Use damp fingers to guide it back to center as it spins.
Smooth & Finish
Once your piece is shaped, slow wheel to a crawl and slide wire tool along the plate and under clay. stop wheel and remove. Let clay dry 1–2 days, then sand rough spots and paint or seal with a clear coat to protect from moisture.
