Our mission…

Lumikha Space exists to make creativity more accessible, welcoming, and joyful—for everyone.

We believe art isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing up, exploring, and making space to breathe. Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time, crafting with your kids, or just looking for a quiet moment to yourself, you belong here.

We know the cost of trying new creative hobbies can be steep—between materials, tools, and equipment, it can feel overwhelming before you’ve even started. That’s why we keep our prices as low as we can and offer shared tools and supplies in our open studio. We want people to try new things without needing to make a big financial investment up front. Creativity should be a doorway, not a gate.

Through workshops, open studio hours, and a curated shop full of handmade goods and art supplies, our mission is to support creative expression, build community, and invite a little more play into everyday life.

Come as you are. Reset your nervous system. Move slow and make stuff.

Behind the Space…

I’m Racquel—the heart and hands behind Lumikha Space.

For nearly a decade, I worked in construction project management, building big things and managing complex projects. But over time, I felt the burnout creeping in. I was craving something softer, slower, and more soul-filling. So I took a leap and walked away from the career I had spent years building to create something that felt more like me.

I’m proud to be half Filipina and half Mexican—two cultures that have deeply shaped how I see the world, especially when it comes to creativity, community, and finding beauty in the everyday. Those roots, along with my love for making things, are a big part of what inspired this space.

I’ve never considered myself a traditional artist, but I’ve always loved making things with my hands. For me, it’s less about the finished product and more about the process—slowing down, experimenting, and finding a little joy along the way. That’s what I hope this space offers: a welcoming, no-pressure place to be creative, even if you don’t think of yourself as “an artist.

Lumikha (which means “to create” in Filipino) is my way of offering that magic to others.
